Women of Nyaruguru district who work with Women For Women organization say they have developed, thanks to the sensitization program offered to them.
They made the remarks on Friday the July 11th, 2014 during a function to award certificates to women who have been training in different courses for the past year.
Women For Women international has been operating in Nyaruguru district for one year training about 800 women in different technical courses. These women lived in poverty and illiteracy until women for women international started training them in different skills.
“I used to spend recklessly the little money I had without knowledge on saving and I was always in poverty. I later learnt saving, sanitation and nutrition through the teachings of Women to Women,” says Helena Mukamuyenzi one of the 800 women in training.
Some of these women in Nyaruguru are now in vegetable farming cooperatives that farm wetlands, others are in bee keeping while others are arts and crafts compositions and they all earn a living.
Antoinette Uwimana the country director of Women For Women International in Rwanda says even if the organization has taken big steps in impacting the lives of these women, there a lot of projects they plan to engage these women in for their development.
“We require from these women to put in efforts and protect the projects meant for them so they get social, health and economic development,” said Uwimana.
The 800 women who have been undergoing training for the past year are from Kibeho sector of Nyaruguru district. Women For Women International plans on training 3500 women in Nyaruguru district in the next three years.
