Western Province workers urged to promote gender

Workers in charge of planning and statistics have been urged to be accurate with statistics so as to promote gender.

The training was attended by workers from 15 districts that make Western province, who confirm that there is a lot they needed to understand to be able to carry out their work.

Participants give an example of how they have learnt to explain and make gender promotion programs saying gender is a way of engaging both men and women in certain programs.

Barengayabo Ramadhan, the Deputy Chief Gender Monitor in charge of Gender asserts that the training was meant to devise measures on improving gender equality.

“This training was meant to help us evaluate the implementation of gender promotion programs and to educate people how these statistics can be achieved,” he explains.

The deputy chief says that workers should ensure statistics they have are current so that reports from every district are similar.

During the training, it was said that development can never be attained without using exact numbers in statistics.
