The executive secretary of Murundi sector in Kayonza district, Claude Murekezi has revealed that no woman in this sector agrees to stay in an illegal marriage.
This comes after 166 couples wedded before the law during the good governance month.
The marriage legalizing idea was the women’s since they have understood the importance of legal marriages as Murekezi explains.
“The woman makes a man understand how much a wedding certificate can help them get a bank loan and other disadvantages of couples living together as man and wife when they aren’t married,” he adds.
The executive secretary gave an example of his wife, who asked for a Sacco loan and takes care of the expenses without depending on her husband for everything.
Some of the women we talked to confess they have achieved social development through setting up small income generating projects with the help of Sacco loans.
