Gakenke: Youth to fight GBV and stigmatization

Representatives of Youth from sectors in Gakenke District are to sensitize the youth they represent to fight Gender Based Violence and stigmatization of people with HIV/AIDS while preventing AIDS new infections.

“The information they got in the training for one day will be enough for them to sensitize their fellow youth” says Zephyrin Ntakirutimana the Gakenke vice mayor for social affairs to the press.

The youth representatives in the training were reminded to seek the help of youth in Urugerero program to make all youth and people understand law that prevents GBV and stigmatization of AIDS patients.

“Youth representatives will help in making their fellow youth and all local people understand the law, GBV victims and AIDS patients stigmatized will be known and supported by Haguruka” says Murekatete a worker for Haguruka association in Musanze district.

“We got to make resolutions to fight GBV in Ruli sector and our neighbouring sector” says Philemon Ntamahungiro one of the youth trainees

Another trainee Assumpta Nkurere says they are going to be more supportive of HIV/AIDS patients and to give them hope, to take medicine on time and not to infect others.
